Even global superstar Rihanna goes through the same thing. The “Diamonds” singer revealed how she gets “annoyed” by Rocky in a new interview, and it’s the most relatable thing ever.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Rihanna praised Rocky by saying the “greatest thing” about him “is seeing him be a dad.”
It’s also the most annoying thing. “I’m annoyed because my sons sometimes just live for him more than they live for me,” Rihanna, who shares RZA, 2, and Riot, 18 months, with Rocky, said. “And I’m like, ‘Did you know who cooked you? Do you know who pushed you out?’ And they love him, but when I see it, oh, it’s the best.”
It’s bittersweet as a mom. Of course we want our kids to love their dad, but why do they have to make it so obvious and fawning when we are fighting for the scraps of their love and attention?! If Rihanna feels it too, at least we know we aren’t alone!
And it turns out, this has always been the case for Rocky and the kids. In a 2023 interview with Access Hollywood, Rihanna dished about the rapper, “I loved him differently as a dad. This is major, major, like, it’s a turn on. It’s just like, ‘Wow! What a leader, what a great, patient, loving [dad].”
“And my kids are obsessed with him. I’m just a background, like, I’m an extra. Yep! It happens … it doesn’t matter if it’s girls or boys, they love their dad differently, and I love to see it.”
