
Niger State Police Command has arrested another suspect, Dauda Umar Sarki, in connection with the m8rder of Mohammed Abdulsafur, the village head of Lambata in Gurara Local Government Area of the state. It would be recalled that on January 14, 2023, some irate youths of Lambata in large numbers stormed the residence of the deceased and k!lled him following a lingering chieftaincy dispute. 14 suspects were subsequently arrested in connection with the incident while 12 of them are already standing trial for m8rder. The suspect was apprehended by officers from the Gawu Babangida division, following orders from Justice Aisha Wodu Bawa of High Court Number 3 in Suleja. Sarki will be held in a correctional facility alongside other suspects implicated in the case. The court has denied a bail application from one of the suspects, Ibrahim Musa, also known as NaAllah. Justice Bawa has adjourned the case to February 27 and 29 for a definitive hearing, with the suspects remaining in custody until then.
