Daredevil: Born Again is a project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has fans pretty excited about what the MCU has to offer. Charlie Cox has expressed his interest to be part of the Avengers rather than joining up with The Defenders like his Netflix days. While this is something that fans would enjoy, it might seem out of character for Daredevil, given that he has refused to join the team once in the comics.

Charlie Cox and Daredevil definitely have the star power that can get people to watch the Avengers film, but Matt Murdock might have too much on his plate to be able to be a full-time Avenger. While Cox might have the right idea for Daredevil’s film debut in the MCU, it might not make much narrative sense, given how often Daredevil finds himself in a heap of trouble.
Despite his history with the Avengers, Daredevil might not want to join them in the MCU

Charlie Cox has rightly pointed out in his interview that Daredevil has a very storied history with The Avengers. However, realistically, Matt Murdock has to hold down a full-time job to pay the bills, moonlight as Daredevil, and deal with the frequent threats on his loved ones thanks to the likes of Wilson Fisk knowing his identity. Charlie Cox, regarding Daredevil joining the Avengers, said:
Over the course of these years, I’ve become a big fan of this character. One of the things I’m acutely aware of is there are some really cool team-ups, and Daredevil plays a really interesting, pivotal role in some of the Avengers comics. For the sake of the character, I think that would be a wonderful moment … an homage to so much history.
Daredevil joining the Avengers is going to give the roster a little bit of a boost, at least when it comes to the fandom’s expectations for the team. While this might have not been the case with the first iteration of The Avengers, the landscape of the entertainment industry has changed quite a bit in the last seventeen years, which means that The Avengers that Feige now assembles will need to have some things in mind beyond narrative viability.
Daredevil might not be fit for the Avengers in the MCU

With Wilson Fisk knowing that Matt Murdock is Daredevil, his anti-vigilante stance, and the storyline that is being drummed up on the street-level side of things, Daredevil already has a lot on his plate. Combining this with the fact Wilson Fisk is also aware of his loved ones and where to find them, the character will require Daredevil’s full attention. Much like the 2005 run of the New Avengers, Daredevil might not have the time to join The Avengers full-time, even if he helps out during major crossover events.
While both Daredevil and Spider-Man have served on The Avengers, these characters are worth a lot more for Marvel by themselves. Matt Murdock will have his own set of issues that are going to cause him a lot of trouble in the future, and bringing in that sort of baggage to the Avengers might just be counterproductive to the wider plot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
