Since Kerry Washington was raised as an only child, sibling squabbles and rivalries are totally out of her ballpark; so she looks to her husband, former NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha, to let her know if it’s all normal.
In a recent talk with Krista Smith, the host of Netflix’s Skip Intro podcast, via People, Washington talked about her kids’ wonderful bond, and how she’s learning from them.
“The thing I’m grateful for is how close they all are, the three of them, because I don’t know anything about siblings,” she said. “When they argue or fight, I always look to my husband, like ‘Is this normal?’”
She added, “For me, you avoid conflict, right? And, I’m learning to witness them kind of work through stuff and how wonderful that is that none of them is the only [and] has to carry the burden of being everything all the time.”
Handling sibling conflict can be totally foreign to people, especially to someone who’s never had to deal with it. So we love that Washington is looking to her husband to ensure their children are keeping a healthy bond!

For those who don’t know, Washington and Asomugha first met back in 2009, and within four years, they tied the knot. Since then, they’ve welcomed two children named Caleb, born in Oct 2016, and Isabelle, born in April 2020. Washington is also the stepmother to Asomugha’s daughter from a previous relationship.
In a previous interview with SheKnows, Washington talked about becoming her best self, for both herself and her family. “Like ways to look in and be introspective… prayer and meditation, whatever it is that helps you get in touch with your best self, those parts of you that can remind yourself how magical you are. Those things are important,” she said.
