‘His kindness touched everyone’ – Tributes paid to young man killed in quad bike incident in Co Westmeath

HEARTBREAKING tributes have been paid to a man who died after a crash between a quad bike and a motorcycle in Co Westmeath.

Dean Wearen, 20’s, was pronounced dead at the scene at Ballynascarry, Finea on Saturday.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene around 3.30pm.

The driver of the motorcycle, also aged in his 20s, has been left in a “critical condition” and was rushed to the Mater Hospital.

A male passenger of the quad bike, also aged in his 20s, was injured but the injuries were not deemed as life-threatening.

The passenger was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore.

Cops are appealing to the public for any information or camera footage.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in Ballynascarry, Finea between 3:00pm and 4:00pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

Dean’s funeral details are yet to be announced.

Mourners remembered Dean as a “lovely man” who touched everyone with his kindness.

One mourner said: “I’m so sorry for your incredible loss.

“My heart truly goes to every one of Dean’s family, parents, siblings and friends.”

Another said: “To all Dean’s family and his huge circle of friends, we send our deepest sympathies. May he rest in peace.”

One person said: “Rest in peace. You were such a lovely man, and your kindness touched everyone around you.

“Your memory will always live on in the hearts of those who knew you. You will be dearly missed.”

Another shared: “Our sincere sympathy to the Wearen and Bennett families and to Deans wider circle of loved ones.

“He was such a funny little boy, always laughing and joking. He grew into a lovely young man.

“Thinking of you all in these sad days. Sleep well Dean RIP.”

While another added: “Deepest condolences for Dean’s family. May he rest in peace. Terrible tragedy.”
