RTE star Kevin McGahern has opened up about the “weird” moment he supported Daniel O’Donnell.
Patrick Kielty returned to Montrose tonight for another night of the hit-chat show with a varied rota of guests.

The Down comic was joined by Cheap Irish Homes presenter Maggie Molloy and comedian Kevin McGahern.
The pair were on the show tonight to discuss teaming up for their new show, Cheap European Homes.
The show sees the duo travel around Europe helping home seekers find the best value pad on the continent.
Teaming up with Maggie isn’t Kevin’s first time being a part of a showbiz double act.
Kevin revealed on the show tonight, that early in his career, he and his mum were in a band together, and supported a major act!
With his mum sitting in the audience, Kevin clued in viewers as he explained that he and his mum were in a “ballad group” and sang with Daniel O’Donnell.
He said: “I was in a ballad group with my mother ,fairly rock and roll stuff, years ago.
“And we supported Daniel [O’Donnell]. He used to do some cancer benefit concert in Balina and Cavan every year.
“And I remember he came in, we were all backstage, and there was all of the tea and buns. It was fairly rock and roll with stuff.”
He added: “And I remember Daniel came in, and all the old women were vibrating with excitement. And he came over and sat down beside me, and I went to get up because we were about to go on stage.
“I get up, and he said, ‘Sorry, excuse me. I think you might have sat on something’.
“And I looked down and couldn’t see anything on my a***. I kind of instinctively called for my mommy, as you do, and you’re not sure what’s happening.
“My mother came over, and turned out I had sat on a bun, so there was a bun stuck to my a***.
“My mother came over and sort of spanked the crumbs off my a***, as Daniel O’Donnell watched approvingly. It was definitely, probably my weirdest showbiz story.”
Kielty quipped: “You can catch that moment and more on Cheap European Homes.”
To which, Kevin interjected: “That’s the after dark version.”
Kevin and Maggie will be returning to RTE One this Sunday for the first episode of Cheap European Homes.
