The latest controversy centers around the game’s Item Shop offering reskinned versions of original skins, marketed as “inspired by vaulted classics,” which has led to a significant backlash from the player community.

What once used to be a fun battle royale game has started to seem nothing more than a cash grab for Epic Games, and it’s seemingly working out well for them as the studio shows no sign of slowing down soon when it comes to reskinning old “classics,” all in the name of nostalgia.

Nearly all the comments point out that while the current OG Pass claims to bring back “Vaulted Classics,” hinting at how the studio is bringing new skins inspired by the old Battle Pass, only for it to turn out to be a reskin of the famous item shop skins of the time instead.
Why Fortnite needs a cosmetic revamp
Despite the intention behind these re-releases, a large chunk of players is simply not happy with the current cosmetic meta of the game. Longtime players who acquired the original skins during their initial release feel that the exclusivity of their purchases is slowly fading away as well.
The introduction of reskinned versions in the Item Shop, especially when marketed as “inspired by vaulted classics,” has left players feeling unhappy as it feels like there’s no inspiration left anymore.
