When we think about Solo Leveling, the first thing that comes to our minds is animation and power-packed battles. The series is at an all-time high with the second season. But more than that, the second season is on a roll with the growing popularity and success.
The ratings, reviews, and reception are working in the series’ favor. It is a clapback to haters calling it an overhyped series. But the recent episode did a teeny tiny slip-up that had fans go all gaga on the internet. This had to do with a fan service moment, but that is not all.

While fans aren’t complaining about the moment, it was a perfect thirst trap for them. It also points to a key problem with the impact frames which the animators must address and work upon. But this isn’t the first time the anime set up a thirst trap for viewers.
A-1 Pictures and the impact frames conundrum
From Black Butler to Kaguya – Sama: Love Is War, A-1 Pictures is prolific in the sheer amount of projects they have worked on. Be it shojo or shonen, their roster spans different genres on the whole. But they’ve been at an all-time high with Solo Leveling’s breakthrough.
It is setting a precedent in the Shonen genre through fights, stakes, and other moments in the anime. It is so well put and done that we cannot help but marvel. Precisely why it also lives up to the hype and popularity. But there’s more to the story, it seems.
Compared to the first season, the studio gave a snap back to the criticism regarding lackluster animation and bland moments. This season is all about going extra, be it action scenes or emotional moments. Yes, some fans even hated it, as we all know, but it is what it is.
Overall, the visuals have been slick and top-tier in every aspect, which means that the studio went all out in its approach. We asked for it, and they served, and we’re not even complaining. This also applies to the recent episode, which wasn’t all fought as they slid a thirst trap for fans.
There are thirsty fans, and then there are dehydrated fans. But this one scene from the recent episode had everyone swooning in unison, particularly Jinwoo fangirls. While fighting the ants, Sung Jinwoo’s rear end is visible for a micro-second, but it causes a riot nonetheless.
Its hilarious especially with fan reactions and edits but the animotor revealed the accidental mistake on X. This was mainly because of the slow impact frames, which rendered it comical. But it sure as hell isn’t the first time the series jumped on the fanservice bandwagon.
Solo Leveling jumped on the fanservice bandwagon
Thirst things thirst, or as some say, first things first. Solo Leveling has its fair share of fan service moments apart from Jinwoo’s bum reveal. It was a total treat for fangirls in any case, no matter how hilarious it was. But other instances in the anime where it proved that they’re jumping on the bandwagon.

Cha Hae-in’s pool scene is one such moment that had fans obsessed in every sense. They were parched if one were to be honest and we all know that it runs in every fandom. But there’s one thing we should know and that is, its an anime-only scene which also raised several concerns.
All in all, fans reduced it to objectification as some pointed it out but others were happy about it. Regardless of that, the blip in the recent episode had more to do with animation but was reduced to a gag for the better.
Solo Leveling is available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manhwa is available for reading on Tapas.
