“We think that the players are right”: Mecha Break Finally Notices a Feature Marvel Rivals Nailed at Launch, But It Might Be Too Late

Amazing Seasun Games’ Mecha Break recently concluded its recent open beta period, which peaked at over 300,000 players. The studio has gathered sufficient feedback to analyse the game’s flaws, so many changes are coming to the game. Many players complained about progression, claiming that the game requires players to grind too much to unlock Break Strikers.

The studio now plans to change this completely and will adopt an approach that NetEase Games used for Marvel Rivals. Making all Break Strikers available since the beginning will encourage players to try out all of them instead of just spending days trying to unlock the next one.

Amazing Seasun might allow Mecha Break players to access all Break Strikers right away

Amazing Seasun CEO Kris Kwok recently appeared for an interview with PC Gamer to talk about the game’s development process and the information the studio has gathered after a successful beta period. He explained (translated via an interpreter),

We do know the biggest concern and then we think that the players are right – We are considering that we may [give] access to all Strikers to players.

Traditionally, the game gives players access to only one Break Striker and requires them to grind for days in order to unlock all 12 available mechs.. NetEase Games has experimented with the idea of making all heroes available at launch in Marvel Rivals, and clearly, that worked out.

It might be too late to make these changes, as this tedious task of grinding to unlock mechs has convinced many players to uninstall it. Of course, the game is still in early phases but the first impression really matters, and Amazing Seasun will have to work hard to uplift the game’s reputation.

The studio will also tweak the usability of mech modules in certain matches

Mecha Break also features a modules system that allows players to customize their mech’s attributes. Similar to weapon attachments from the Call of Duty franchise, however, the gear on Mechs resulted in unbalanced gameplay. Amazing Seasun has realised that this is a massive problem and plans to solve it by only enabling the module system in extraction mode, named Mashmak.

Despite facing several challenges, Amazing Seasun plans on supporting the game indefinitely, which is certainly appreciated, but players wonder if that will be the case. At the moment, the studio is only “considering” these changes, but it must implement these changes because the game is on thin ice.

It has received negative reviews on Steam, and if things get any worse, it might end up like Concord. Mecha Break doesn’t have an official release date yet, but players should expect the final version to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows in Spring 2025.
