Good, old Blue-Eyed Beast is back. Hank McCoy may be far more pivotal than we realize.
Kelsey Grammer’s return as Beast in Avengers: Doomsday signifies the official integration of the X-Men into the MCU, potentially setting the stage for a full-fledged X-Men movie, with Beast possibly leading the team or establishing its foundation.

Kelsey Grammer’s return as Beast in Avengers: Doomsday, following his cameo in The Marvels, is a strong indication that the X-Men are officially becoming part of the MCU.
Beast’s return: A sign of the X-Men’s MCU takeover?
The inclusion of other returning X-Men actors, like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Alan Cumming, further solidifies this movie to be the swan song of the Fox X-Men and the probable setup for the MCU X-Men’s debut.
Marvel could be using Avengers: Doomsday to introduce the concept of mutants for good and reset the current MCU, leading to a new universe with the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four co-existing.
Could Beast be the first Mutant leader in the MCU?

With the futures of Professor X and Magneto uncertain in the new MCU timeline, Beast could step up as a key figure in the MCU’s version of the X-Men. Beast’s intelligence, experience, and moral compass could position him as an early leader for mutants in the new timeline.
A mild-mannered and compassionate scientist would be the perfect bridge between humans and mutants. Logan trash-talking him every 10 seconds would be the icing on the cake.
Beast’s leadership could pave the way for the formation of a mutant team, potentially mirroring the X-Men from the comics. Though traditionally led by Professor X, the MCU may decide to chart a new course.
How Avengers: Doomsday can set up an X-Men movie

Beast’s role in Avengers: Doomsday will be more than a cameo since a majority of legacy mutants are confirmed to appear alongside him. The events of Doomsday and Secret Wars could be a litmus test for the Beast’s leadership skills, showing that he can be a leader, fighter, scientist, and diplomat at the same time.
Avengers: Doomsday could introduce a storyline that focuses on mutants, potentially setting the stage for a future X-Men movie that explores their challenges and struggles. Avengers Vs X-Men could also be setup, but that is a pipe dream for now. Either way, the Beast is not done by a long shot.
Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. That movie is scheduled to hit United States theaters on May 1, 2026, from Marvel Studios.
Avengers: Secret Wars, which is also being helmed by the Russo, then arrives on May 7, 2027. Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland will be released in between those two movies on July 31, 2026.
