Alan Titchmarsh defends not using real home for ITV show Love Your Weekend amid Meghan Markle backlash

Alan, 75, has fronted many programmes on a number of networks over his decades long career, including the hit BBC programme, Gardener’s World.

His ITV show Love Your Weekend aims to celebrate all that is great about the British countryside as he hosts segments on arts, crafts, manufacturing and produce.

Huge names often appear which have recently included Katherine Jenkins and Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page.

Despite the impression that the barn set is from his own lavish property, the daytime show is actually filmed at Manor Farm in Hampshire.

Viewers have loved watching the antics from the Grade II-listed Georgian farmhouse studio.

Appearing on the Spooning with Mark Wogan podcast, the presenter defended the decision not to film the show on his own property.

“Love Your Weekend is a couple of villages away. It’s not my barn. It’s not a big [deal]. I’ve adopted it,” he explained.

Mark then jokingly slammed TV presenters that give the impression they use their own homes for their TV shows.

He remarked: “What is it with you people who are on the weekend who give us the impression that you are in your own homes and you’re not?”

Adding: “I mean, James Martin does the same.”

However, the horticultural expert insisted that he has nothing to hide, and that other people might simply assume things.

“No, I’ve never said it’s my own home, it’s just where I am every Sunday, but it’s … yeah,

“People associate you with a place and suddenly it becomes yours.”

This comes as Meghan ditched her Montecito mansion and hired a neighbour’s £5million farmhouse to film her new Netflix cooking show.
