The brand-new Warbond for Helldivers 2 launched on March 20th and added new content inspired by the Wild West of America. Gamers can now live out their fantasies of being a space cowboy.
The Borderline Justice Warbond has given us two new weapons, two armor sets, two items, and some fun cosmetics. However, something that’s integral to the cowboy experience is missing: cowboy hats. Arrowhead believes that cowboy hats don’t deserve a place in Helldivers 2, but the modding community thinks otherwise.
Modders bring cowboy hats to Helldivers 2
Currently on sabbatical, Helldivers 2 director and chief creative officer Johan Pilestedt took to Twitter and asked players for their thoughts on the latest Warbond. The developer was immediately asked where the cowboy hat was or if there would be one.
While Pilestedt wasn’t part of the design conversation, he stated that the idea of adding cowboy hats crossed the line of what defines the world of Helldivers. Clearly, Arrowhead believes that such an addition would break away the game’s fantasy world as people don’t wear hats on helmets.
However, the modding community of Helldivers 2 doesn’t agree with Arrowhead, as it has developed tons of unique cowboy hat mods for the game.
The Bandland Gunslinger Cowboy pack brings an entire collection of cowboy content, including the hat, armor, and even a classic revolver. All the pieces can be downloaded separately according to your preferences.
On the other hand, we have Democracy’s Deputy Helmet. The mod brings a cowboy hat with a unique model and texture. Even the Cow Boys helmet mod is a fantastic option with its various hat options and tweaking abilities for classic helmets.
So, if you’re someone who is on PC looking for an authentic cowboy experience in Helldivers 2, the modding community has plenty of options for you to explore. Since they’re just cosmetic additions, there’s no chance of Arrowhead dishing out bans, either.
Helldivers 2 board game is coming soon
Even though Helldivers 2 hasn’t had the smoothest ride, it’s fair to say that it was one of the hottest games of 2024. Its high-octane action featuring horde battles wasn’t something that we were used to seeing in the gaming industry.
If you’re someone who’s itching to fight for democracy from the tabletop, there’s some good news. Steamforged Games has just announced Helldivers 2: The Board Game is all set to release on GameFound on April 8th, 2025.

If you’re unaware, Steamforged is the name that has given us board games for various other popular titles, such as Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Sea of Thieves, and Hearts of Iron. Considering the company’s reputation, it’s fair to say that Helldivers 2‘s board game project is in the right hands.
The Helldivers 2 board game will have the same tactical action as the video games, including Stratagems that will be usable on the tabletop. If you’re interested in this project, be ready to spend around $200 for the baseboard game, plus additional costs for shipping.
