Latest Vehicle Cosmetic Joins Fortnite’s Ever Growing Roster of Pay to Lose Skins Thanks to a Nasty Bug

It’s hard to believe that Fortnite is over 8 years old at this point. The game was first released on 21 July, 2017 as a PC-only title, being eventually ported to consoles such as the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and even the Nintendo Switch!

The popularity of the game cannot be emphasized enough, and Epic Games has made numerous additions (as well as removals) to the game to keep it fresh and appealing. To that extent, there have been a number of skins that have been released, of varying quality – and prices.

However, a recent cosmetic has stirred up a bit of controversy, with many players remarking on how poorly thought out it is – and this is just one of the few ‘pay to lose’ skins available in Fortnite’s lineup.

Fortnite’s Dodge Ram vehicle has a few nasty bugs that prevent it from working as intended

It's high time that a weapon capable of destroying vehicles makes it to the game.

A recent post on the r/FortNiteBR subreddit has gained some traction recently, which showcases a player attempting to gain control of the Dodge Ram vehicle. For the uninitiated, the Dodge Ram is a paid car cosmetic, that replicates the look of the 1500 TRX.

The 1500 TRX is an actual vehicle manufactured by Ram Trucks, and is a full-size pickup – one that is quite popular. Epic Games is no stranger to collaborating with car brands either, with recent notable examples being Lamborghini, Jeep, and the like.

Going back to the post, the video (posted as per the request of Epic Games support) showcases some of the ridiculous bugs associated with it. For starters, the car is entirely too big, which results in a wonky hitbox.

Peeking out and shooting from the vehicle will cause damage to the car instead, which is quite the conundrum. This can prove to be quite fatal during fights, and is something that Epic Games must address as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the vehicle also possesses some really wonky controls, as seen when the player quite easily flips the vehicle over while attempting to drive in a narrow passageway. To make matters worse, this also results in the car taking unintended damage.

Keeping Epic’s recent string of quality control issues on track, the car is also seen clipping through objects, which is admittedly hilarious.

This is quite unfortunate, and Epic Games really needs to implement a series of quality checks on their skins, instead of pumping out a bazillion skins (some of which are quite rare) with barely any effort attached to them.

Epic Games needs to ensure quality control

From the video, it is clear that Epic Games has done little to no playtesting whatsoever for the car skin. Keep in mind that this is a premium, paid skin, which further adds insult to injury. No skin should be released in this manner, let alone a paid item that players are willing to sink their hard-earned money into.

Epic really needs to ensure that such bugs get caught faster, instead of blindly selling skins in an attempt to cash in more revenue. If anything, now that this whole fiasco has been brought to light, players are quite disinterested in buying the Dodge Ram skin, with many opting to skip it entirely.
