Jared Padalecki played the role of Sam Winchester, one of the two main characters in Supernatural. He appeared in all fifteen seasons of the series while its quality fluctuated over the years.
Despite having appeared in one of the longest-running TV shows of all time, Padalecki has one of the worst Rotten Tomatoes ratings records when it comes to his film appearances. The younger Winchester brother’s movie ratings record isn’t one to be envied.

However, the older brother, Dean Winchester, played by Jensen Ackles, also does not fare much better. As a result, the Supernatural co-stars have arguably some of the worst-received movies in their filmography, and here is everything you need to know about their poor record.
Supernatural star Jared Padalecki has one of the worst TV-to-movie records
After appearing as Dean Forester in the comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls, actor Jared Padalecki was cast as Sam Winchester in Supernatural. The series ran for fifteen seasons and currently has a 93% tomato meter rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

As a result of appearing in the paranormal drama series for fifteen years, Padalecki has had a relatively small film career. The actor’s last film credit was as a voice actor almost a decade ago and his last prominent role came in 2009’s Friday the 13th.
Padalecki’s distance from films is understandable given how little success he has seen in the medium. The aforementioned slasher horror movie presently has a tomato meter rating of merely 26%.
Only two other entries in his filmography, House of Wax and Flight of the Phoenix, have fared slightly better, scoring 28% and 33% respectively. Therefore, it is safe to say that Padalecki arguably has one of the worst TV-to-movie rating records, with none of his works managing to be certified fresh on the review aggregator website.
Jared Padalecki’s Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles doesn’t fare any better
In Supernatural, actor Jensen Ackles played the role of Dean Winchester, the elder of the two Winchester brothers. Similar to his co-star, Ackles has found most of his success on the small screen with relatively less film credits to his name despite more than two decades of experience in the industry.

Ackles’ last live-action role was in 2019’s Buddy Games: Spring Awakening, which currently holds a tomato meter rating of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2009 slasher film My Bloody Valentine 3D is one of the better-received installments in his filmography, with a score of 60%, making it his only certified fresh movie.
However, Ackles’ work in the DC animated universe as a voice actor significantly improved his record, which isn’t as bad as his onscreen brother. Movies such as the two-parter Batman: The Long Halloween have a score of 100%. Nonetheless, without the DCAU movies, Ackles also does not fare much better than his co-star when comparing his movies to TV shows.
Supernatural is streaming on Netflix.
