Beru vs Sung Jinwoo Cannot Top the Best Produced Episode of ‘Solo Leveling’ Season 2

The Solo Leveling anime has delivered some incredible fights we have seen in recent times. However, the final fight in Season 2 was something else. The battle between Sung Jinwoo and Beru was super hyped and for a good reason.

There is no doubt it was an excellent fight. It was so fast-paced and action-packed, that it satisfied the hunger of the audience who were eagerly waiting. But when it comes to the pinnacle of the series, fans expect breathtaking animation, fluid action sequences, and peak direction.

Granted, Beru and Jinwoo’s fight might have the action down, but it does not make it the best episode of Season 2. The best episode is the one where Sung Jinwoo fought the High Orc Shaman, Kargalgan.

Action alone isn’t enough to make a masterpiece

We have seen a lot of good action scenes in anime, but that does not mean that the action will compensate for all of the other aspects. How is the direction? How is the flow of the animation? There are many things to consider.

Especially when it comes to veteran anime fans who show no mercy in criticizing each and every point (they are pursuers of perfection). And when they find something that they think is impressive, they will not shy away from praising it.

So when the fans were discussing if the Beru vs Jinwoo episode would truly surpass the best episode of Solo Leveling Season 2, there was still some hope, but after watching the episode, the verdict is out. The Kargalgan episode is the best one in all of Season 2.

Now that the season is almost over, i think its fair to say that S2 Ep 6/Ep 18 remains the BEST PRODUCED episode of the season OVERALL

This is not to say that the fight was not impressive. Usually, for a fight that was hyped to that extent, you would not be surprised if it fell short. But the episode continued to impress with a properly fleshed-out narrative and impressive action.

The Ant King fight was a defining moment for the anime; it not only featured Jinwoo’s most brutal and satisfying battle yet but also started Jinwoo’s ascent to the peak of the world in Solo Leveling.

But a single fight just isn’t enough. If we were to compare the Beru fight with the one with Kargalgan, there is a clear difference. Not only are the storytelling and cinematography impressive, but the direction, flow of events, and artistic consistency seem to magically captivate the viewers.

Beru vs Sung Jinwoo is not the peak of Solo Leveling

There are multiple good episodes in the second season of Solo Leveling (something no one is complaining about), but the only one that has delivered peak levels on all of those elements is the episode with Kargalgan’s battle.

The Ant-King battle was undeniably a spectacle, satisfying the fans even with respect to the manhwa. It was an intense, high-stakes fight showcasing Jinwoo’s growth and power, but the problem?

Outside of that battle, the episode didn’t have much to offer. It felt empty and only the flashy fight felt like the focus. It felt more like a fight scene than a fully developed episode.

The peak episode should have a lot happening, pushing the narration forward, and that is why the Kargalgan fight wins. Not just Jinwoo, but even his shadows like Igris are deeply involved; there is a plot getting unraveled and the vibrant palette just goes well with the depiction.

Solo Leveling is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
